About the event
In this class, we will be exploring contemporary movements with a partner. We will be finding ways to share weight, listen to our partners, initiate movement and lifts, and connect with other moving bodies. We will look to anatomical and contact improvisational principles to inform physical connections to both our partners and the floor. This will be a safe environment where dancers can feel comfortable to explore these concepts. Previous partnering experience is not necessary. Please be aware that physical contact is necessary for the class.
- Where will the classes be? Gonzaga University Dance & Theater Studio #103, 1108 N Pearl Street, Spokane. There is plenty of free street parking.
- What to expect from class? Classes will be 1.5 hours long. The first portion will cover CI class and the second portion will be a jam to try out what we covered.
- Safety is one of my top priorities and the class can be adapted for different skill levels. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me.
- What do I wear to class? In contact improvisation, there is a lot of rolling and sliding on the floor. I recommend wearing pants and layers on top, one of those layers being a t-shirt or long sleeve shirt, and bare feet. Knee pads are a good idea.
- Classes are by donation only.
