(Current Project) Untitled

A solo project investigating the many facets of being a mother and artist. I answering questions: How many hats do I wear in this life? and can I still hold tight to my identity at the core of this beautiful and at times heart-wrenching life?

Rapport | A Collection of Interactions

Premiered May 4th, 2018 at YAW Theater in Seattle WA, as part of Forthun+Rome Dance Theater's INTERCONNECTED

In Rapport, CarliAnn Forthun Bruner presents three duets that explores a variety of interactions between the self and the outside world. Delving into our interactions with the world, where persona, façade, and filters are needed and cultivated; with the trust circle, people who are trusted confidants; and with the self, exploring the level of comfort in those quiet moments alone. Bruner wonders "how does this affect trust? Can trust formed be despite the filters? Can you trust someone who may not feel authentic to you?"

SeattleDances Review

"The pair barely leaves contact for the entirety of the piece as they use each other to lean on and glide through their interconnected movements. Their loving give and take relationship is an inspiration to support our loved ones in the same way that we are supported by them." ~ Cassianna Diaz, Full Article
